We’re excited to announce that TUBEX Aluminium Tubes has committed to setting a science-based target through the Science Based Targets initiative. This move is part of our pledge to reduce the environmental impact of our business operations.
The effects of climate change are already being felt around the world. Countries everywhere are facing unprecedented challenges – and these will only worsen if we do not take action. With the 2015 Paris Agreement, world governments committed to limiting global warming to well below 2°C – and ideally to 1.5°C – compared to pre-industrial levels.
Achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement is the only way we can avoid causing irreversible damage to our planet. A 1.5°C future means halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
Why SBTi?
The Science Based Targets initiative is a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute and the World Wide Fund for Nature. SBTi offers companies a clear route for reducing their greenhouse gas emissions and approves targets based on the latest climate science and in line with the Paris Agreement.
“As a packaging manufacturer, we recognise that we have a responsibility to minimise our impact on the planet. By committing to SBTi and setting ambitious science-based targets, we are strengthening our environmental leadership in the industry. We will be challenging all aspects of our business operations and will develop targets based on climate science and objective data. This commitment, which is also part of our CSR strategy, reflects our understanding that growth must always go hand in hand with responsibility.”
